| Obverse description | Crowned facing bust of King Edward IV occupying the central field, the king depicted with long flowing hair falling to the shoulders and wearing an ornate crown surmounted by a fleur-de-lis. The portrait is rendered in the bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of late fifteenth-century English coinage. A decorative inner circle frames the royal effigy. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial script reads EDWARD' · DI' · GRA' · REX AnGL' · Z FRAnC, proclaiming Edward's sovereignty over England and France by divine grace. |

| Reverse description | A bold voided long cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quadrants, each containing a central pellet within a double-arched tressure of three pellets, a design characteristic of English groats of this period. The quadrants are separated by the arms of the cross, which extends to the inner circle. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial script, divided by the arms of the cross, reads POSVI : DEVm : A DIVTOR E mEVm CIVI TAS LOn DOn, identifying the mint city as London and bearing the pious motto. An outer beaded border frames the entire composition. |
