Obverse description Facing crowned bust of King Edward III set within a tressure of eight arches, each cusp adorned with fleurs-de-lis. The king is depicted frontally in regal attire with a prominent crown, his effigy rendered in the characteristic flat, stylised manner of mid-fourteenth-century English hammered coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the bust, with the royal legend distributed around the outer border. The overall design reflects the established Edwardian groat type introduced at the London mint.
