The obverse has a design similar to a United States dollar. Like the reverse, the details are very rough, and there is an upward facing lip on the edge. On the top, it says `1 SILVER` in capitals on the left and `BULLION 1` in capitals on the right. On the left and right edge, the word `ONE` is spelt out vertically in all capitals. Before the first and last letter of `ONE`, there is a dot. On the bottom, in smaller text it says, `1 ...ONE... ... ...GRAM... 1`. Other than the text I just described, which frames the rest of the bar, there is a large numeral 1 and the word `ONE` on top of it, to the left. In the center, on an arc, you can see the words `UNITED STATES OF AMERICA`. The same horse from the reverse is also on the obverse, in the center. In a small box underneath the horse, it says `IN GOD WE TRUST`. In another small box in the same position where the numeral 1 and word `ONE` overlap, but on the other side, it says `999 FINE SILVER`.
