Obverse description Facing enthroned figure of Saint Peter set within a Gothic architectural archway flanked by two turrets, the saint depicted bearded with a nimbus, holding a scepter in his right hand and a book (Bible) in his left. A shield bearing the arms of the Archbishopric of Trier — party per pale, dexter a cross, sinister bendy — is displayed in the lower field beneath the figure. The entire composition is framed by a beaded inner border, with the archiepiscopal legend in Gothic uncial letterforms running along the outer margin.
