Obverse description Central field displays the quartered heraldic shield of the Archbishopric of Cologne, combining the black cross of Cologne on silver with the checky barry field of the County of Moers, all set within a plain inner circle. A long cross pattée extends beyond the shield to the coin's rim, dividing the surrounding legend into four sections. The peripheral inscription in Gothic uncial letters reads THEO AREP COLO MO RI, abbreviating the titles of Archbishop Theodoric II of Moers. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered medieval gold coinage, with a beaded inner border framing the central device.
