Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Peter, patron saint of Cologne, standing within a beaded inner circle, vested in archiepiscopal robes and wearing a papal-style tiara. The saint holds a long cross-staff or sceptre in his right hand and raises his left hand in a gesture of benediction. The figure is rendered in the Gothic hammered style characteristic of Rhenish goldgulden of the early fifteenth century. The surrounding legend in uncial Gothic lettering reads THEODIC ARCPI COL, identifying the issuing archbishop Theodoric II of Moers.
