Reverse description The quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Cologne displayed on a large heraldic shield set within a pointed trilobe (trefoil) frame, the shield bearing the characteristic cross of Cologne impaled with the Palatinate arms. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters. The legend reads + MOnE nOVA AVREA BERCK, identifying this as a new gold coin struck at Bergheim.
