Obverse description Quartered coat of arms of the Fugger family within a beaded inner circle, displaying the heraldic charges of the Fugger-Babenhausen-Wellenburg lordships, surmounted by an ornate helmet with elaborate mantling and crest. The shield is divided into four quarters bearing lilies and other heraldic devices characteristic of the Fugger lineage. The eagle is rendered in the hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century German gold coinage. The surrounding Latin legend FERDINANDVS II ROM IMP SEMP AVG identifies the overlord as Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor, within a rope-pattern border consistent with the obverse.
