Reverse description Central device consists of a heraldic shield bearing a diagonal staff with a pennant flag, all set within a finely lined field. The shield is flanked at the base by two crossed laurel branches, symbolising honour and civic distinction. The legend EIN GOLDGULDEN arcs along the upper periphery, while the initials S.P. and Q.W. — denoting the Wertheim mint officials or sponsors associated with the New Year presentation issue — appear in the field to either side of the shield. The overall composition is bold and well-centred within a beaded border.
