| Obverse description | Displayed imperial eagle with spread wings occupying the full field, bearing a scepter shield charged with the Brandenburg eagle on its breast. The eagle is rendered in high relief with fine feather detail characteristic of late 16th-century German goldsmith work. A mintmaster's mark appears at the bottom of the field. The surrounding legend in Latin reads IOHAN GEOR D G MARC BRAN ELEC, identifying John George as Margrave of Brandenburg and Elector, separated by pellet stops and enclosed within a beaded inner circle. |

| Reverse description | Central shield bearing the Brandenburg eagle displayed, set within an elaborate pointed quatrefoil formed by four lobes. In each point of the quatrefoil, a small heraldic shield of arms divides the date numerals, with the full date distributed around the composition in the spaces between points. The design is executed in the refined Renaissance heraldic style typical of Brandenburg coinage of this period. The surrounding legend MONET NOVA AVRE BRAND proclaims the coin as new gold money of Brandenburg. |
