Reverse description Quartered heraldic shield at centre, comprising four coats of arms arranged around a central cross: the Magdeburg arms (quartered black-and-white) at left, the Brandenburg eagle at top, a crowned eagle at right, and the Magdeburg bear or architectural motif at base, all set within an elaborate foliate and scrollwork surround. The shield composition reflects Joachim Frederick's dual role as Administrator of Magdeburg and scion of the House of Hohenzollern. A beaded inner border frames the central device, with the circumferential Latin legend MO: AV. IOCHIM. FRIDE. D. G. ADMINIS. MAGD. identifying this as a gold coin (moneta aurea) struck in the name of Joachim Frederick, by the grace of God Administrator of Magdeburg.
