Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Archbishop Gerlach of Nassau standing on a decorative platform, vested in full pontifical robes with pallium, wearing a mitred crown, and holding a processional crozier in his right hand. The figure is rendered in the Gothic hammered style characteristic of Rhenish goldgulden of the mid-14th century. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the circumscribed legend reading + GERLACVS AREPS MOGV running clockwise in the outer field.
