Reverse description A large quartered escutcheon surmounted by an electoral helmet with crest, displaying the four-fold arms of the Archbishopric of Cologne impaled with the imperial arms — the black cross of Cologne and the imperial eagle quartered with the arms of the archdiocese — set within a trefoil frame. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, identifying the issuing authority. The heraldic composition is characteristic of the Rhenish electoral goldgulden type of the period.
