Reverse description A pointed Gothic heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz — a six-petalled rose within a circular boss — occupies the central field, surrounded by a multi-pointed star or ornamental border. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with a Gothic circular legend running between the inner and outer beaded borders. The overall design is characteristic of late 14th-century Rhenish goldgulden coinage.
