| Obverse description | Quartered heraldic shield displaying the four-fold arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz, incorporating the crosses of Mainz, the wheel of Mainz, a crowned helm, and additional armorial quarterings, set within an ornate trefoil frame. Three additional smaller coats of arms occupy the spandrels at the corners of the trefoil. The composition is rendered in the late Gothic hammered style characteristic of Rhenish goldgulden of the period. The circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, partially visible at the coin's periphery. |
