Reverse description Central shield bearing the arms of Mainz — a six-spoked wheel (the Mainz wheel) — set within a Gothic trefoil frame whose three lobes are clearly delineated by a beaded inner border. The trefoil is surmounted by a small crown. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial lettering, separated by a beaded border, reads: + MOnETA OPEDI PInGVWEnSIS, identifying this as a coin struck for Oppenheim (Bingen region). The field between the trefoil and the legend border is plain.
