| Obverse description | Enthroned facing figure of Archbishop Adolf I of Nassau, vested in full pontifical robes and wearing a mitre, seated on an ornate throne, holding a book of the Gospels in his left hand and raising his right hand in benediction. The archbishop is depicted within a beaded inner circle, his vestments rendered with fine drapery typical of late 14th-century Gothic die-engraving. The surrounding legend in uncial Gothic lettering reads ADOLFVS AREPS MAGVn, identifying the issuer as Archbishop of Mainz. |
