Obverse description Full-length facing figure of Saint Alban depicted in high relief, clad in flowing ecclesiastical robes with finely engraved drapery folds, his hands extended at his sides in a devotional posture. A radiate nimbus crowns the saint's head, identifying him as a martyr. The surrounding Latin legend reads S. ALBANUS MARTYR with the date 1725 incorporated into the inscription, distributed around the entire circumference of the field in the Baroque manner characteristic of early eighteenth-century German ecclesiastical coinage.
