Obverse description The city arms of Hannover displayed within an arched gateway flanked by two multi-storey fortified towers; above the gateway, a rampant lion facing left. The date appears at the top of the field, divided by the upper edge of the gate structure. A Latin circular legend surrounds the design along the coin's periphery, reading MONETA CIVITATIS HANOVERIENSIS or similar civic inscription.

Reverse description Imperial double-headed eagle displayed with both heads facing outward and surmounted by a single imperial crown; on the breast of the eagle, a crowned orb (Reichsapfel). The wings are spread symmetrically in high relief, with detailed feather work rendered in the hammered style. A Latin circular legend naming the Holy Roman Emperor runs around the periphery of the field.
