| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned arms of Erfurt — a divided shield bearing the city's heraldic wheel — flanked by elaborate mannerist strapwork and foliage. The date, here 16ZZ (1622), is positioned across the upper portion of the field, straddling the crowned shield. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the circular Latin legend occupying the outer margin of the flan. The composition reflects the German municipal hammered goldgulden tradition of the early seventeenth century. |
