| Obverse description | Central field displays the heraldic arms of Donauwörth: a double-headed imperial eagle with wings displayed, bearing on its breast a shield charged with the letter 'W', the civic device of the city. The eagle is rendered in high relief in the bold hammered style typical of early 16th-century German goldsmith work. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the central device, separated by floral ornaments, reading MONETA NOVA AUREA CIVITATIS SUEVIAE WERDAE, identifying this as the new gold coinage of the Swabian city of Wörth. |
