| Obverse description | Within an inner beaded circle, the arms of Augsburg displayed on a shield flanked by decorative foliate mantling: a pine cone (Pyr) on a pedestal in the lower field, surmounted by a crescent with a fleur-de-lis above. The surrounding legend, separated from the central device by a beaded border, reads AVGVSTA VINDELICORVM, with a cross pattée as a divider. The overall design is characteristic of early sixteenth-century German hammered goldgulden craftsmanship. |
