Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of St. John the Baptist standing within a Gothic pointed mandorla or vesica, nimbed and bearded, clad in a long robe, holding his characteristic attributes — a staff surmounted by a cross to his right and a book or Agnus Dei roundel to his left. The figure is rendered in the flat, elongated style typical of late 15th-century German hammered gold coinage. A circular Latin legend in uncial script encircles the entire periphery of the coin, identifying the patron saint.
