Obverse description Crowned and armored bust of Philip II facing right, wearing a richly detailed cuirass with pauldron visible at the shoulder, and a crown adorned with foliate decoration atop his bearded effigy. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance hammered style, with fine detailing on the armor and facial features. The surrounding legend, reading clockwise from the top, gives Philip's royal titles in abbreviated Latin. The legend is separated from the inner field by a beaded inner circle.
