Reverse description The reverse displays the large, elaborately quartered arms of Charles V as Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain, comprising the multiple heraldic fields of Castile, León, Aragon, Sicily, Austria, Burgundy, Brabant, Flanders, and Tyrol, surmounted by an imperial crown. The shield is supported on either side by decorative mantling or wing-like ornamental devices. A beaded inner circle surrounds the shield, and the devotional Latin legend runs continuously around the outer border between two beaded cordons, a mintmaster's mark visible at the base of the shield.
