| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned coat of arms of France, bearing three fleurs-de-lis arranged two over one on a plain shield, surmounted by an open royal crown with prominent fleurons and visible pearls. The shield occupies the majority of the flan, with the crown rising prominently above. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border. The date 1635 appears integrated within the legend. The engraving is executed in the bold, high-relief style characteristic of French hammered gold coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
