Obverse description The Bolognese lion (Leone Rampante) standing to left, holding a banner or standard; in the lower left field, a stag bearing a crucifix between its antlers serves as a secondary heraldic charge. The design is executed in the bold, stylized manner characteristic of late medieval Italian hammered coinage. The composition fills the flan with minimal exergual space, consistent with the irregular planchet typical of the issue.

Reverse description Saint Peter depicted full-length, standing facing, nimbed and bearded, clad in draped robes, holding a pair of crossed keys — the emblems of his apostolic authority — one in each hand at waist level. The figure is rendered in the hieratic, frontal style common to late medieval Papal States coinage, with the legend encircling the design within a beaded border. The inscription identifies the apostle by name and title.
