| Obverse description | Central field displays the papal arms of Leo X (Giovanni de' Medici) — the Medici shield bearing six roundels (palle) arranged in the characteristic Medici configuration — surmounted by the papal tiara and flanked by the crossed Keys of Saint Peter. Flanking the shield on either side are decorative floral sprigs. The circular legend reads LEO PAPA DECIMVS, divided by pellet stops, identifying the issuer as Pope Leo X. |
