| Obverse description | Central field displays the heraldic shield of Cardinal Camerlengo Guido Ascanio Sforza, surmounted by the papal umbraculum (ombrellino) with the crossed keys of Saint Peter — the traditional emblems of the Sede Vacante authority — in the characteristic hammered style of the Roman mint. Two small figures of saints flank the shield in the lower field. The surrounding Latin legend reads SEDE٠VACANTE and ALMA٠ROMA, distributed around the coin's border, affirming the interregnal status of the Holy See during the conclave of 1549–1550. |
