| Obverse description | Central field displays the elaborately engraved pontifical arms of Clement XI: a baroque cartouche bearing the Albani family coat of arms (a six-pointed star above horizontal bands with two towers at base), surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys. The shield is flanked by ornate acanthus scrollwork. The circular legend naming the pontiff and his regnal year runs around the periphery in Latin capital letters. |
