Obverse description Central papal arms consisting of a quartered shield surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys, the whole flanked by elaborate acanthus-leaf and scroll mantling in the Baroque style. The shield displays the Albani family arms of Clement XI. A circular legend in Latin runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by a plain inner border, with the coin's rim exhibiting a distinctive milled or toothed edge pattern.
