| Reverse description | The Lion of Judah depicted passant to the right, wearing an imperial crown surmounted by a cross atop its head. The lion holds upright in its raised right forepaw a staff bearing a flowing banner from which a processional cross is suspended. The lion stands on a ground line, rendered with fine detail to the mane and musculature. A circular Ge'ez legend surrounds the design, and the denomination in Ge'ez numerals and script appears in the lower field, with the mint mark 'A' (Paris) present below the ground line. The border is beaded throughout. |
