Obverse description Central field features the quartered arms of Transylvania and Hungary within a shield, displaying the characteristic heraldic divisions of the Bethlen principate. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in Latin reads GABR D G SA RO IM ET TRAN PRIN, running clockwise around the outer field. The die-work is typical of hammered coinage of the period, with irregular flan edges and varying relief. The overall design reflects the heraldic conventions of early seventeenth-century Central European princely coinage.
