Reverse description A standing armored Swiss soldier in classical attire faces left, resting his left hand on a large shield inscribed XIX CANT, denoting the nineteen cantons of the Swiss Confederation, while his right hand holds a lance or halberd over his shoulder. The legend CONFEDERAZ: SVIZZERA arcs around the upper border from left to right. The denomination 1 FRANCO appears in the exergue below a horizontal line, with a small star to the right on the variety struck at Luzern. The design is enclosed within a toothed border.
