| Obverse description | The allegorical figure of the Semeuse (Sower), personifying the French Republic, strides left in flowing classical drapery, her hair windswept, scattering seed with her right hand while carrying a sack in her left. Radiating sunrays emanate from the rising sun in the lower right field, symbolizing the dawn of the Republic. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the upper rim, with the engraver's signature O. ROTY inscribed at the base of the design. The composition is executed in a refined Art Nouveau style characteristic of Roty's medallic artistry. |
