Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing portrait bust of King Norodom I occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with finely engraved wavy hair and a short moustache. The circular legend reads NORODOM I ROI DU CAMBODGE around the upper periphery, with the engraver's signature E. C.WURDEN incuse below the bust truncation. The date 1860 appears prominently in the lower field. The entire design is framed by a continuous beaded border.

Reverse description Central device consists of the Royal Cambodian coat of arms: a circular shield enclosing a tiered ceremonial urn or altar flanked by olive branches, surmounted by a multi-tiered stupa from which rays of glory radiate outward. The arms are supported on either side by serpentine naga figures. Khmer script legend surrounds the central device in the upper and lateral fields, giving the full royal title of King Norodom I. The denomination UN FRANC appears in the lower field in bold Latin letters, flanked by decorative dots. A beaded border encircles the entire design.
