Obverse description Central design features a bold raised five-pointed star (Seal of Solomon) in the field, with decorative floral ornaments in each of the five angles between the star's points. The Arabic legend of the Cherifian Empire curves along the upper periphery, while the Latin inscription EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs around the left and right sides. The word MAROC appears at the base in Latin characters, flanked by decorative stops.

Reverse description The denomination numeral 1 is prominently displayed in the central field beneath the Arabic word for franc (فرنك), with the legend 1 FRANC inscribed in Latin below. The word ESSAI appears beneath the denomination, identifying this piece as a pattern strike. The Arabic Hijri year 1361 and its Gregorian equivalent An 1942 are placed symmetrically in the lower field, flanking the central numeral. A continuous Arabic inscription encircles the upper periphery, and the engraver's signature J. HANAUT is incised at the lower left of the field.
