Reverse description The full heraldic achievement of the Principality of Monaco is displayed at centre, featuring the lozengy shield of the Grimaldi family in argent and gules, supported by two armoured monks each holding a sword, and surmounted by the princely crown. A ribbon below the shield bears the motto DEO JUVANTE, with an order star at centre. The numeral 1 appears flanking the arms to either side, and the denomination FRANC is inscribed in large letters along the lower field, with ESSAI appearing in smaller characters beneath. A beaded inner border frames the entire composition.
