Obverse description Left-facing effigy of King Leopold II, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail characteristic of Vinçotte's work. The sovereign's bust is truncated at the shoulder, with the engraver's initials TH VINÇOTTE inscribed below. A circular legend in French surrounds the portrait, reading LEOPOLD II ROI DES BELGES, separated from the effigy by a plain field. The rim is defined by a fine border consistent with proof-quality striking.
