Fort du Murier was a French prisoner-of-war camp operating during the First World War, and like dozens of similar installations across France, it issued its own internal scrip to manage transactions within the wire. These camp-issued notes — collectively known as monnaie de camp or bons de prisonnier — were produced locally, often printed by whatever means the camp administration had to hand, and redeemable only within the confines of the facility itself. They had no value beyond the fence.
Green paper was commonly allocated to the 1 Franc denomination across multiple camp issues, though whether this reflected a central directive or simple local habit is not well documented for Fort du Murier specifically.
