Charles X came to the throne in 1824 as the most reactionary of the restored Bourbon kings, and his coinage tenure ended abruptly with the July Revolution of 1830 — three days of street fighting in Paris that sent him into exile in England. The "four leaf" reverse variety catalogued as F.207A distinguishes this type from the contemporaneous issues of the same reign; the differentiation matters to specialists working the Franscini reference series, where small reverse modifications were introduced mid-production without announcement.
Charles X's monetary issues circulated for under six years total before the Orléanist regime of Louis-Philippe replaced them wholesale.
