| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in red on cream paper within a fine guilloche border, with the issuer's name arched across the top and a six-digit serial number and series designation at centre. Two manuscript signatures appear below, identified by their titles as Treasurer and Chairman respectively, with the printer's imprint of Imp. B. Arnaud Lyon-Paris at the foot. The deliberation date of 30 November 1920 is stated in full, and the denomination ONE FRANC is expressed in words. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in deep red and black on a cream ground with a bold guilloche frame and ornamental corner pieces. At left and right, oval cartouches each contain the municipal coat of arms of Gray and Vesoul respectively, both surmounted by a mural crown. The central field carries a pale repeating microtext underprint reading CHAMBREDECOMMERCEDEGRAYETVESOUL, over which a large black plaque bears the denomination 1 FRANC in bold letterpress. Above and below the plaque, the redemption notice states that the note must be presented for repayment before 31 December 1923, subject to any decision extending that deadline. |
