| Obverse description | Green letterpress note enclosed within a fine ornamental border with pilaster-style corner elements. At the top centre, the arms of the Deux-Sèvres department are set within a foliate cartouche, below which the issuer's title and the large-format denomination 'UN FRANC' are printed in bold type. Two allegorical vignettes flank the central text field: a sower figure at left and a labourer at right, both rendered in a fine engraved style against lightly ruled guilloche backgrounds. Spaces for the Treasurer's and President's manuscript signatures appear centrally, above the emission number and the date 1916; the printer's imprint 'IMP. RICHARD PARIS' appears at lower right. |
