| Obverse description | Three giant eland (Taurotragus derbianus) depicted in right profile, their imposing horns and muscular forms rendered in high relief against a plain field. The circular legend BANQUE DES ETATS DE L'AFRIQUE CENTRALE runs along the upper periphery, with the date 1974 positioned in the lower exergual area between two raised dots. The naturalistic wildlife composition is executed in a detailed, sculptural style characteristic of Monnaie de Paris essai coinage. |
