Additional information

Katanga hasn't been a functioning political entity since 1963, when UN forces ended its secession from the Congo — which makes this 2017 issue a privately facilitated collector piece rather than anything resembling circulating currency. The "Big Five" series is a product of the modern commemorative market, licensed through arrangements with the Katanga name as a kind of numismatic brand.

Aluminium at this weight puts it firmly in novelty territory.
