Obverse description Left-facing laureate bust of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, engraved in the style of Pierre-Alexandre Morlon. Her hair is elaborately dressed with a wreath of olive branches and flowing locks, rendered with fine detail characteristic of Morlon's work. The engraver's name MORLON appears in small lettering at the truncation of the bust. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the rim, divided on either side of the effigy. The portrait is executed in a refined Art Deco style with clean, elegant lines suited to the aluminium medium.
