Comments

The French Protectorate's small-denomination cardboard notes of 1919 were emergency substitutes, issued because the wartime metal shortage had stripped coin circulation down to almost nothing. Morocco's copper and nickel had been redirected to the French war effort, and the gap left by disappearing small change was filled by these stiff, ticket-like pieces — which the local population received with predictable skepticism.

Pick 6 belongs to a short series that was retired quickly once metal coinage returned. High attrition from handling means surviving examples in honest circulated grades are more representative than pristine ones.
