Additional information

Aruba's florin coinage has been issued by the Centrale Bank van Aruba since the island gained its separate Status Aparte within the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1986, breaking from the Netherlands Antilles monetary union. Willem-Alexander's accession in April 2013 following Queen Beatrix's abdication triggered the transition to this type the following year. The switch from nickel-brass to nickel-plated steel on the florin series reflects broader cost-reduction pressures on small-island central banks managing limited circulation volumes.
