Obverse description A rampant lion facing right occupies the central field, depicted in bold relief with flowing mane, raised forepaw, and tail arching over its back, standing upon a straight ground line. The date 1790 appears in the exergue below the lion, divided by the mint mark. The circumferential legend reads MON·NOV·ARG·PROV·FOED·BELG·, denoting the new silver coinage of the federated Belgian provinces. The design is enclosed within a finely beaded border.
