Reverse description A finely modelled kiwi (Apteryx) strides left across a horizontal ground line, its distinctive long curved bill prominent and plumage rendered in careful detail, as designed by George Kruger Gray. The legend NEW·ZEALAND arches across the upper field, while the denomination ONE·FLORIN and the date 1947 appear in a curved inscription along the lower periphery. The initials KG, for the engraver George Kruger Gray, are discreetly placed within the design. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border.
